It has been over twenty-five years since this case turned the city of Boston Massachusetts upside down and sadly it seems like they learned nothing. This case initially brought disruption to the city for one reason but in the end the disruption it caused was for another reason and the ramifications have never seemed to go away. On the night of October 23, 1989 Charles Stuart and his wife, Carol, who was seven months pregnant with their first child, had just left a birthing class when initially according to Charles they had gotten lost. He would then say that while sitting at a light in what was considered to be a "seedy" side of town a black man had carjacked them, forced them to drive away, robbed them and then shot them. Carol had been struck in the head while Charles was shot in the stomach. Still wounded Charles would say he drove away when the perpetrator left and he called 9-1-1 from his car phone.
