The entire time I was researching this case I thought about another case, that of Cameron “Todd” Willingham of Texas. Willingham was executed by the state of Texas in 2004 in the murders of his children that authorities say occurred when he set their home on fire. Even before his execution there were arguments that the “science” used to convict him was later found to be flawed and new advances had cast doubt on his guilt. However, the courts would not grant a reprieve and it has been argued that further studies were stopped so as to not legally prove that an innocent man was executed. Bill Amor thankfully was not sentenced to death in the murder of his mother in law and was given the right to prove his innocence. We cannot be ignorant enough to believe that innocent people have not been executed. On the night of November 8, 1988 family members of eighty-eight year old farmer, William Dulin, found his body near his Sheldon Illinois home. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. It did not take long before investigators had a tip and by their estimates solved the crime. The morning after William's body was found a man named Chuck Gullion walked into a bank expecting to cash a check for $4,500. The name on the check was William Dulin. The bank teller had heard about the discovery and called the police. Investigators arrived and arrested Guillion along with his companion, Gayle Potter. The two would be interrogated but it seems that Guillion knew nothing beyond the fact that Potter had asked him to cash the check at the bank. Potter would freely admit to forging the check. I often do not blog about cases that I feel still have some significant dealings to go through in the criminal courts.  For instance, on my list of cases to research I will skip those in which are very recent crimes, have not yet seen a trial of any kind or is reported to have a court date in the near future.  Now, that is not exactly the case when it comes to the Melissa Calusinski case but it is one that I feel is not completely over and has more to come. Why do I think that?  Well, largely it has to do with the person now representing her, Kathleen Zellner.  If you keep up with the news then you know who she is.  For the past year she has made her biggest headlines because she is currently representing Making a Murderer  subject, Steven Avery.  But, Zellner is not the only reason I think this case will see more action.  I have seen several television shows about the case as well as many articles from both sides of this story and I just feel the...

This is another one of those cases in which people like myself who are staunch supporters of our justice system, whether I agree with decisions or laws or not, are left with a bad taste in their mouths.  It is not simply because a law was violated or that a bad seed in the system did unlawful things, it is because when it is exposed there does not seem to be any sort of ramifications for their actions. I am not just talking in monetary value... I am talking in real terms of punishment or sanctions.  It has been said that even when there is clear prosecution misconduct that the reason we rarely see someone punished for it is because people would lose faith in the justice system.  I do not believe that to be true, I believe people would have MORE faith in the justice system to know that wrongs are righted and the no matter who the person is there are consequences for actions.  Sadly this is not one of those cases.  In fact, although there are still ...
