This case shows us several things. It shows us that it does not matter your profession, anyone can be evil. It shows us that sometimes that evil seems to be in your DNA. It also shows us that no matter how slick you think you are, the odds of you avoiding justice are slim. Christine Belford and David Matusiewicz were divorced in 2006. David worked as an optometrist. They shared three daughters together and the divorce was ending in a very bitter custody dispute. David, and his family, would proclaim that Christine was abusive to the girls in his attempt for custody. It is unclear if custody had been officially settled in the summer of 2007 when David and his mother, Lenore, picked up the three girls from their Wilmington Delaware home allegedly headed to Disney World in Florida for two weeks. I know that I have been slacking as of late in my effort to blog. There is never an issue of having enough cases, my list topples over 1,000, but there is often an issue of finding one to grab my attention and that is never so true as it has been today which is leading me to do something I have never done. First, I rarely compile a blog on a case that has not seen the inside of a courtroom unless it is deemed to be an extreme cold case that has never been solved, until now. Secondly, instead of researching this case first and making notes, I am basically winging this one and will do searches for specific places and dates. This latter part will be easy for me because I have followed the case through the news and social sites since it began. I could probably tell you this case inside and out, or at least the opinion of myself and many others in my community. From time to time I will blog about a case that does not involve murder but even if it does not, I am unsure I have blogged about one that was not at least an attempted murder... until now. I could be wrong considering I have blogged nearly five hundred cases but I am pretty sure this one is different. While I have blogged about cases that involve a child custody case, and allegations of abuse but I believe they all ended in either an attempt on a person's life, or a death. That is not the case here. This case is not just the kidnapping of children by a parent, but to also address Parental Alienation which sadly many, including myself have seen first hand.
