True Crime Stories

  Once again I have a blog to put together on a case I first heard about on the television show Fear Thy Neighbor. A lot of these types of cases, as is the case with a lot of murders, seem so senseless, and often preventable but for me I think this one is particularly senseless, if not preventable. But, the other strange thing about this case is that while there had been trouble between the neighbors years prior, it appears that there had not been a lot of issues in the two years leading up to the murders. Terrance Hough Jr. was a firefighter in the city of Cleveland Ohio. Due to a policy for city workers he was required to live within the city limits. This was mentioned several times in my research as if this was an issue for Hough, although he had obviously complied. Unlike most of the cases that I blog about here this is not a murder case, but it is only by pure luck that it is not. The defendant in this case, Irving Galarza, was charged and convicted of attempted murder when he hired people to set fire to the home next door to him. Obviously this is one of the many crimes that was not fully thought through. Recently I posted a case that was featured on the show Fear Thy Neighbor, one of my favorite show on Investigation Discovery, but I also posted about a lot of misinformation given on that particular episode. The episode about this case may not have had a whole lot that was technically misinformation or things changed for dramatics, but there were some things left out. Much in this case is confusing, as well as disputed.  The only things that are known for sure is that brothers, Alex and Aaron Wulff killed John Maruschak on July 16, 2008 and that a 9-1-1 operator failed to do her job.  In the early morning hours of July 16, 2008 a man made a 9-1-1 call. Confusion, at least for me, begins here.  The man who called reported that he was witnessing a man being beat with a baseball bat.  While he is on the phone he tells the operator that the two men that were beating the man have now thrown him into their red truck.  The operator asked him if he could see a license plate number on the truck and when he indicated he could not he was told that there was nothing that could be done and to call back if the truck returned and he had a license plate.  Now, where I became confused was if this caller was a neighbor of the victim, John Maruschak, or the perpetrators, Alex and Aaron Wulff, or both.  The articles I read did not tr...
