Lois Thacker

While a spouse against spouse crime is the most common and of course I have blogged about several of those types of cases here, it is not my primary focus on cases. Sadly they are just so “commonplace.” The spouse is the first one suspected in a crime, we all know that. When blogging about such cases I try to find the “more interesting” ones. They are the ones that have multiple murders or interesting legal proceedings. This case has both. Lois Music married Phillip Huff in 1974. They appeared to have a few children and then in February of 1983 Phillip was murdered in Orange County Indiana. I believe the couple lived in the town of Paoli but they could have just as easily lived in the town of French Lick, most famous as being the place basketball great Larry Bird grew up. Okay, I always wonder if people like Larry Bird and John Mellencamp are as “big” outside of Indiana as they are in the state. There are very few details about Phillip Huffs murder but apparently his wife c...

Donna Roberts

If this next case proves nothing it proves that when it comes to the death penalty women are still favored a bit. Just the fact that Donna Roberts is the only woman on Ohio's death row may tell you this, but the fact that her sentence of death has been overturned twice can also lead you to this conclusion. There was always ample evidence that Donna Roberts was in on the planning of the murder of her ex-husband, Robert Fingerhut. It was so compelling that she has been sentenced to death not once, not twice, but three times now. One of the things that I found extremely interesting in this case is that in June of 2017 the judge in this case set an execution date of August 12, 2020. I have never seen an execution date set so far in advance, let alone from a case that has already been in the courts since 2003. At first I thought it may have simply been because Donna Roberts was a woman but then I discovered that her accomplice, Nathaniel Jackson, who was also sentenced to dea...

Robin Lee Row

We all know that not all killers are apprehended right away. Sometimes one has to wait for more forensic advances to get very far despite any suspicions one may have. And then there are the times were a person apparently becomes too confident in the fact that they have gotten away with a murder that they continue to do so to the point it becomes one question too many. Such is the case of Robin Lee Row. Not only did she get “sloppy” and not cover her tracks appropriately in 1992 but it brought even more questions and a bigger investigation into other things that happened in Robin Lee Row's past. In 1976 Robin was about nineteen years old when her fifteen month old daughter, Christina died while they were living in New Hampshire. At the time of her death it was listed as SIDS. If Christina were to die today it is likely that a more extensive medical examination of her body would occur considering that while it is not impossible, it is more uncommon for a child of this...
