Terrance Hough Jr.

Once again I have a blog to put together on a case I first heard about on the television show Fear Thy Neighbor. A lot of these types of cases, as is the case with a lot of murders, seem so senseless, and often preventable but for me I think this one is particularly senseless, if not preventable. But, the other strange thing about this case is that while there had been trouble between the neighbors years prior, it appears that there had not been a lot of issues in the two years leading up to the murders. Terrance Hough Jr. was a firefighter in the city of Cleveland Ohio. Due to a policy for city workers he was required to live within the city limits. This was mentioned several times in my research as if this was an issue for Hough, although he had obviously complied. He moved onto a street where other city workers, including at least one police officer lived. Terrance, his wife, Regina, and their children, at least one an infant when they moved, moved into a home next t...

Irving Galarza

Unlike most of the cases that I blog about here this is not a murder case, but it is only by pure luck that it is not. The defendant in this case, Irving Galarza, was charged and convicted of attempted murder when he hired people to set fire to the home next door to him. Obviously this is one of the many crimes that was not fully thought through. Recently I posted a case that was featured on the show Fear Thy Neighbor, one of my favorite show on Investigation Discovery, but I also posted about a lot of misinformation given on that particular episode. The episode about this case may not have had a whole lot that was technically misinformation or things changed for dramatics, but there were some things left out. One of the main things involved the fact that the episode portrayed Irving Galarza as a single man when in fact he was married (or at least had a companion living with him) and two children. I feel this is important because in reality aside from the woman i...

Gregory Phillips

Some of you may feel refreshed when you see that this post will not be as long as most of the cases that I blog about. There is a part of me that too feels excited that I can sit down and do a “quick” post, but that means there is a) not a lot of information out there about the case and b) less information likely means less “excitement” or twists and turns. But, no less it is still a crime and has earned its way here. On September 27, 2016 911 operators in Glynn Louisiana received a call from a nine year old girl. It is not clear exactly what she told them other than they obviously needed to come to her home. When officers arrived at the home they found three bodies in the yard of Donna LeBlanc, a deputy sheriff for the West Baton Rouge police department. The bodies at the home belonged to forty-two year old Donna, her twenty year old daughter, Carli Jo and their twenty-nine year old neighbor, Gregory Phillips. Investigators had to let the evidence and informatio...

The Deaths of the Schloegl Family

This case is different than a lot of cases that I blog about. There is no dispute as to what happened or who committed the crime. The case never saw the inside of a courtroom. Because of such the facts of the case are sparse, but it also opens up a whole world of other types of speculation. People have debated on whether the adults in the situation handled things as they should have; they have debated on whether law enforcement could have done more; and they have debate just who was in the right, despite the end. Seventy-two year old Paul Crawford bought his lakeside home apparently sometime in 1995. Just how long his neighbors, Warren and Marcella Schloegl, had lived in the Sauk Centre Minnesota neighborhood is not clear, but it appears it had been significantly longer. Prior to Paul moving into his home the Schloegl family had built a boat dock on the edge of what they believed to be their property allegedly because it was the only place that it could go. When Paul ...
