For Any Of Those Who Have Commented

I am unsure that I have done an update, or whatever you want to call it like this, but I thought maybe somehow I should address that fact that I just became aware that there were over 20 comments waiting to be moderated and published on various blog entries.  I check my email daily and I knew I had not seen any in quite some time but that is not necessarily unusual.  I will have to look into Blogger  and see what, if any, changes were made somehow that has prevented me from receiving notice that someone has commented.  In the past I have received emails and I could simply approve them from my phone.

I should also point out that 99% of the comments that I receive are published.  In general I simply do not publish comments that are duplicates from the same person as I assume that was a mistake.  Only on the rare occasion will I deny an even hostile comment, most of which are directed at me personally.  

 That being said I am will try to check more often to ensure I have not missed things.

The Shanda Sharer Story

Many murder victims are innocent people and many crimes are vicious.  When you watch the true crime magazine type shows you often hear a police officer talking about a particular case being the worse crime they had investigated, or the worse crime scene ever.  I admit that I often roll my eyes to these statements because they seem overly dramatic for television purposes, or so it seems.  There are few cases in which if I were to hear an officer state that I would understand why.... the Sylvia Likens case was one.... the Shanda Sharer case is another.   In a sense the two cases have many similarities.  Both girls were teenagers.  Sylvia was 16 when she was tortured and murdered in 1965... Shanda was 12 when she was tortured and burned alive in 1992.  Both girls were murdered in Indiana.  Both cases involved multiple people and sadly they both involved other teenagers. Laverne Katherine "Kay" Parsons

I think most of us would agree that for someone to commit, or even plan or hire someone to commit a murder, aside from obvious self defense cases, their "moral compass" has to be "off." But then there are the cases where the moral compass takes even a more jagged turn.  This is such a case.... Kay Parsons lived in a quite suburban community of Augusta Georgia called Grovetown.  She was an Army wife (although I could not confirm her husband was still active) and a mother of a teenage son.  On the morning or March 25, 2009 she took her son to school and returned home presumably to wait on a contractor that was doing some work on their home.  A For Sale sign sat out in the yard.  What is almost certain is that Kay Parsons did not expect to be attacked in her home, only to die the following day.  But, that is what happened.  A few hours later when the contractor arrived and he did not receive an answer at the front door he walked around to the back door.  There he saw
